Sushi & Style

Experience the latest Content LAB, “Sushi & Style,” on January 21 at 7:00pm. Held at Kit & Ace in Santana Row, “Sushi & Style” is a networking event for guests to celebrate style as expressed through art, food, and fashion.

Chef Michi Shin of Michi Catering will be starting the night off with an interactive sushi demonstration. Guests will be invited to learn how to roll their own sushi. Learn how and where to find the freshest, ethically sourced sushi and glean wisdom from his over 25 years of experience.

Michi_0052webWhen Michi Shin opened Michi Sushi in the early 1990s, he began creating innovative Japanese cuisine, including sushi and other non-traditional items, for the greater Silicon Valley. Due to the relationships Chef Michi has fostered, the brand is able to source from all over the world: Japan, Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, Canada, Korea, and more. Michi Sushi and Chef Michi Shin have been awarded countless awards and accolades within the greater Northern California food scene and were ultimately featured in an exclusive Wall Street Journal article. Through a cult-like following, Michi was able to develop as one of the Bay Area’s top Asian American caterers and event groups. Partners include: Holman Ranch (Carmel), Nestldown (Los Gatos) and many of the top local wineries, such as Thomas Fogarty (Woodside), Regale (Los Gatos), Black-Ridge (Los Gatos), and many more.

Michi has been residing in and raising his three children with his beautiful wife Hope in Los Gatos for the last twenty years. Constantly evolving, Michi has had several restaurant locations in Campbell, San Jose, the Mountain Winery, and most recently at the new Casino M8trix in San Jose.

Michi_0067The business has been passed down from generation to generation: from Mr. Michi Shin to Mike Shin (Michi’s first son) and now to Raphael (pictured left with Michi Shin). Having the opportunity to implement this generational aspect is a major key to allowing the Michi brand to constantly innovate Asian American cuisine in the Bay Area.

Michi’s strong network of valued partners leads to opportunities to reveal creativity through cuisine. Michi provides a full-service event experience that can provide every logistical and operational need, including menu design, cuisine, beverages, production, photography, cinematography, floral, staffing, equipment rentals, and more. They offer services for weddings, private parties, corporate luncheons, team-building events, wine pairing dinners, sake pairing dinners, cooking demonstrations, and elegant private dinner services. Main catering clients and partners include: Netflix, Ebay, PayPal, Cisco, Samsung, Dolby, Apple, HP, Intel, PWC, Ernst & Young, Oracle, and Adobe.

For the style portion of the evening, guests will be able to meet and mingle with Bay Area designers, fashion bloggers, and stylists as they talk about: owning your own style; five must-have wardrobe pieces to help you stay current as styles change (without breaking the bank); and how they bring a look from concept to completion. They will also share how they took their passion and talent and turned it into a successful career path.

The Content LAB series inspires, creates, and connects our creative community. We believe that communities grow stronger as the people are connected with a common purpose and mission.
