Could your workout use a little inspiration? Maybe you’ve been slipping on your New Year’s resolution because the gym has gotten just a little too dull for you. Why not turn your workout into a dance party, instead?
The beauty of dance is that there’s something for everyone. Many gyms and dance studios offer dance fitness classes, from those inspired by Latin rhythms to those that tap into Bollywood movies. However, you may not have found your “groove,” yet.
How does the idea of a live DJ sound?
GROOV3 is a dance workout that takes hip hop moves and makes them accessible to all fitness and experience levels through a one-hour, choreographed, cardio dance session. It’s also a party. Every class features a live DJ spinning hot mixes, and you may even learn a few moves you can take with you for a Friday night out on the town.
Benjamin Allen founded this new dance fitness craze in Los Angeles five years ago. He is a dancer and choreographer with credits ranging from the American Music Awards to Xbox commercials to a flashmob on The Ellen Show. Now, GROOV3 has arrived in the Bay Area, taught regularly by Susan Snyder and Kerry Ferrari. Snyder has been a fitness professional for over fifteen years, teaching dance fitness, Pilates reformer, and body conditioning. Ferrari is an AFAA-certified dance fitness and group exercise instructor who also teaches middle school P.E.
In two special master classes, Benjamin Allen will be visiting from L.A. to teach a class featuring Missy Elliott music and choreography on March 6th and a class in his own signature style on March 7th.
