Explore Los Gatos

Purchased in 1840 and incorporated in 1887, Los Gatos is one of the oldest communities in Santa Clara County. Translated as “The Cats,” Los Gatos got its name from the roars of mountain lions that early settlers heard every night. While the city grew quickly from the beginning, it managed to retain its small-town feel and continues to be a tight-knit community to this day. A pedestrian friendly downtown, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, draws countless visitors to all of its restaurants, hotels, shops, and parks.
