Christmas is almost here, and it’s time to start checking off those gift lists. Buying locally helps support arts and small businesses while also providing gifts that are unique and special. The South Bay has a wide variety of small businesses and makers that have the perfect gift for every person.
Sue’s Gallery Cafe is a quiet little spot tucked away at the edge of downtown Saratoga. In addition to serving delicious coffee, they sell beautiful, handmade ceramics by Sue R. Kang. Bowls, cups, plates, and pour-over brewers are just a few of the pieces available.
Maker’s Market is a store selling handmade items in Santana Row and in holiday pop-up shops at Westfield Valley Fair and other locations around the Bay. They carry several items from local makers, including these tea towels made by Gooseberry Press in Los Gatos. All goods made by Gooseberry Press are created with natural fibers and eco-friendly inks.
These adorable bunnies, which began as gifts between artists Tricia and Ron, have become coveted art pieces throughout the South Bay. There are two sizes available, and each one is made by hand from high-quality wool. Tricia and Ron are also able to customize a bunny to your liking.
Everyone loves a good cup of coffee in the morning, especially when the beans are high quality, rich, and roasted locally. Devout Coffee sells bags of their beans in their coffee shop and on their website. They also have a Devoted Coffee Club which delivers one, two, or four bags of fresh beans a month for three months—the perfect gift for the coffee enthusiast.
The Cookie Boys are two Willow Glen teens who began selling cookies out of their home when they were only 8 and 10 years old. Their business has grown to the point where they ship cookies across the nation. Everyone loves getting cookies around the holidays, and these are perfect for when time is short. The cookies can be ordered in several different quantities, and there is a gluten-free variety available.
Petite Petal is owned by two floral designers in downtown Campbell. In addition to making gorgeous floral arrangements that would be the perfect hostess gift, they sell a variety of candles, handmade items, and terrariums. They also offer workshops, which would be a wonderful gift for a creative friend.
