Filled with an inviting soft purple hue and the steady pulse of music, Local Color became the perfect place for the 9.3 Pick-Up Party on June 20, 2017. The night began with DJ, producer, and musician Salty Sherilyn setting the mood by mixing a variety of popular songs. Following her set, stand-up comedian Dirtbag Dan, who was featured on the cover of 9.3, joked about his background and stage name. To close the night, local dream-pop band Invisible Light Agency performed songs from their album Life Beyond Clocks.
Local Color provided a great space for regional artists to display their work, including the cross-generational art of the Lola x Kenneth Collaboration and two murals sponsored by genARTS: a black light mural by mr.harada and an interactive live mural wall. Guests were also able to enjoy wine by Ridge Vineyards, beer by Lagunitas, and bite-sized baked goods from 2nd Story Bake Shop. With demonstrations of Dream Logic’s virtual reality headsets and PhotoBloom’s augmented reality app, the party stayed true to the issue’s theme of “Future” through innovative technology alongside local art and music.
Thank you to event partners: Local Color, Mach 7 Sound, Lagunitas Brewing Company, 2nd Story Bakeshop, Ridge Vineyards, San Jose Jazz, genARTS Silicon Valley, TextRecruit, Bank of America, and Filco Events.
