On Wednesday, December 18th, we celebrated our 8th Anniversary Pick-Up Party at Method 42 Productions with the release of issue 12.0, “Discover.” In partnership with genARTS Silicon Valley, the night was dedicated to honoring creators, contributors, and subscribers for upholding the South Bay creative arts and innovation community over the past eight years.
Under a sea of purple and blue light, the Method 42 warehouse transported all in attendance to a wonderland of delights. Entering through a green neon arch, guests traveled into a space filled with giant mushrooms, lollipops, a disco-balled Death Star, and other creations from Method 42’s vast inventory of props.
The evening opened with a brief greeting from The Cultivator, Daniel Garcia, who introduced genARTS Silicon Valley’s current Chair Chloe Shipp and incoming Chair Amanda Rawson to present the Movers and Shakers Award. This year’s recipient is the Red Ladder Theatre Company — a social justice theatre company working with the often neglected or disenfranchised members of the community.
Following the ceremony, live music featured Joe Kaplow, Adira Sharkey, Ghost and The City, as well as DJ sets curated by Needle to the Groove. Across from the stage lodged a cozy igloo lounge, where Coffee Shift Inc served fresh French-pressed coffee, a warmer alternative to the bar. With coffee and martini glasses in hand, guests enjoyed works from local vendors Fractal Flora and SmokeJumped and artwork of featured artists from Santa Cruz and San Jose, including Knoffy, Pippi Boards, Stephen Longoria, Gabriel Edwards, as well as the latest bright and bubbly cover-feature herself, Harumo Sato.
Special thanks to our event partners: BAUNFIRE, Method 42 Productions, Loma Brewing,10th Street Distillery, Venus Spirits, Rocket Vodka, Ser Winery, Coffee Shift Inc., CreaTV San Jose, and San Jose Jazz
